When you find yourself wondering what you should do when you have some free time, you might not know where to go. Some people will use their free time to simply relax in the comfort of their own homes, surrounded by family. However, this is not enough for many people. Many people don’t particularly enjoy staying home and doing absolutely nothing. Instead, you might be able to benefit from spending your time exploring new places. There is no better place to explore than the sea. After all, there are many creatures that dwell in the sea but none of them are as famed as whales are.

From the size and appearance of whales to the way they act in the open water, there is something that many people find appealing about whales. Thankfully, there are ways that you can go watch some whales in their natural habitat without having to worry about swimming. For example, you could consider Sydney whale watching. By choosing to go whale watching, you can provide an experience that your friends and family will never forget. Before you go whale watching, though, there are a few things that you should know about the whales.

What Do Whales Do?

When they are in their own natural habitat, undisturbed by people and tourists in zoos, whales exhibit quite a few different behaviours. Most people know that the tail of a whale is quite iconic. When you decide to go whale watching, there’s a good chance that you might be able to spot some whales slapping the water with their tails. In some cases, you might even be able to see the whale’s tail when the whale decides to dive deeper down into the water.

In addition to this, whales will do quite a bit with the rest of their bodies. From waving their fins around and slapping the water with their pectoral fins to moving right underneath the boat to get a closer look, whales are curious creatures, sometimes quite literally. For example, sometimes before a whale comes right up next to the boat, it will slowly lift its head out of the water to examine the surrounding area. Once the whale is done examining the boat, it will often swim off. However, there’s a chance that you might be able to see one of the most iconic things that a whale can do: breach. A breach is when the whale will propel its entire body out of the water, sometimes clearing the water completely, before coming back down with a massive splash.

Why Should You Consider Whale Watching?

There are many reasons why you should go whale watching. For people who are interested in the wildlife of the ocean, being able to see a whale in person is an experience not many people get to have. For younger children, being able to see something as majestic as a whale can be the experience of a lifetime. Deciding to go whale watching is one of the best things you can do for you and your family, especially if they share the same interest in seeing whales as you do.
